To encourage motivation as you lose weight, it is important to set goals. Setting goals that will stretch you allows you to improve both your exercise and eating habits consistently. Goals help you maintain focus as you strive to reach your target weight. Without goals and planning, you’re setting yourself up for failure before you ever begin. Take the time to design a system of goals leading up to a stretch target to help you meet your fitness goals.

Stretch targets are goals that are designed to stretch you. When designing a stretch target, you need to plan a goal that you think is out of reach, and then set smaller goals to help you work towards it. For example, if you never exercise, you could make your goal to run a marathon in six months. You would then set smaller goals to get you there.

Goal setting is essential when you are attempting to make any lifestyle change. Take the time to design a stretch target, and smaller goals leading up to it. For example, you could begin by setting goals of walking each day with short bursts of running. Do this for 30 minutes per day for awhile, and then add more running each week. Eventually, by meeting these mini goals, you’ll be building up to running your marathon.

Be sure to encourage yourself along the way. As you design each goal, pick out a small reward that you will get when you achieve it. Set a much bigger reward for achieving your target goal. This gives you small incentives to work towards the bigger goal. If you’re like most people, you require some sort of immediate gratification to keep you motivated. These rewards provide just that.

Goals are essential to any type of long term change, and weight loss is no exception. Setting goals leading up to a target that stretches you is a great way to encourage motivation. Tell others about your goal, so that they can encourage you as you begin. With dedication and hard work, you’ll be achieving your goal in no time at all. Be sure to choose a goal that really matters to you, so that you’re even more motivated to work towards achieving it. Keep your mind focused on how proud you’ll feel when you finally reach your goal. Congratulations! You’re on your way to a better life.

Everyone knows that to maintain, or achieve, a healthy weight, it’s important to get plenty of exercise. The problem is that for an obese person starting an exercise program is even harder than it is for other people due to their lack of strength and potential health issues. When you are obese it’s can also be very embarrassing to exercise since there simply isn’t very much that you can do. The good news is that exercise for obese people is possible, you just need some place to start.

Of course, it’s important to talk to your doctor before you start any type of exercise program to make sure you are healthy enough. A doctor might also be able to recommend some modifications to some common exercises that can make it easier for someone who is obese to get started ( a qualified personal trainer can help with modifications too).

One of the easiest, and cheapest, forms of exercise is walking. If you don’t want to join a gym because it makes you uncomfortable all you have to do is take a walk around the block. You can even go after dark if you would feel more comfortable. Many towns will open up the local mall early during the winter so that people can go in and walk.

Start in your own home, just climb up your stairs. Depending on your health, and the number of stairs you have, you can go up and down several times. Then you can increase the number of flights you climb and add one more every day, every other day, or every week, whatever works best for you.

You can do many types of floor exercises that don’t require any equipment and they can be done right in the privacy of your own home. Try doing leg lifts, modified push ups, crunches, etc. Anything that will help you get started on building up your muscles.

Buy a DVD aerobics routine. This can be something that you can tailor to your level of physical fitness and can be done in your own home. You probably won’t be able to get all the way through a 30 minute workout routine, and that’s just fine, but over time your stamina will increase and before you know it you’ll be surprised to discover you’ve just completed the whole routine! When you get to that point, it’s a great feeling and it will help you stay motivated to achieve your exercise goals.

You should strive for at least 30 minutes of exercise every single day, but if you simply can’t get through it all at once, that’s ok, you don’t have to. You can easily break your exercise routine into several 5 or 10 minute sessions throughout the day. Just make sure that the total is 30 minutes. You’ll be able to do the whole 30 minutes straight through sooner than you would have thought possible.

No matter what your weight loss goals are or how overweight you are, there is a simple exercise for obese people that you can start doing today. It won’t be easy, and it won’t happen overnight, but it’s a goal that is well within your reach if you just go for it! You can do it!

It is important you follow recipes for a detox diet very carefully or you will not get the best results from your efforts.

Some people believe that they can do it themselves without guidance. This can work but it is much better to have some input from a trained professional. They will know which foods work best and what ones should be avoided at all costs.

A simple cleansing diet works best although some people prefer to go on a fast for the first couple of days. During the fasting period, they will only drink water or natural fruit and vegetable juices. This won’t do you any harm for a couple of days but should not be sustained for much longer than that. You need additional vitamins and minerals in order for your body to work at its optimum level.

At the beginning of a detox you are likely to suffer some headaches and nausea. This is a sign that the program is working. The symptoms won’t last long so be kind to yourself and try and rest as much as possible until they pass.

Carrots and watercress make a lovely refreshing juice as does red pepper, tomato and coriander. If you like drinking tomato juice but find it a bit bland, try adding some black pepper. You could also add fresh basil and garlic.

Apple and fennel are great together as are carrots and lemon. Some people tell me that combining carrot, pear, lettuce and parsley makes a lovely drink but I have to admit it is not one that I have personally tried.

When you are juicing at home, try to only make as much as you will immediately consume. Fresh juices do not keep and start to deteriorate very quickly. If you are serious, you will only eat or juice organic fruit and vegetables. The whole idea of this plan is to rid our bodies of toxins and using produce treated with pesticides defeats this purpose. If you cannot afford organic, peel and wash all the fruit and vegetables very carefully.

If you like soup, try this cleansing vegetable soup. You will need 1kg of mixed vegetables including onion, leek, celery, carrots, parsnip, spinach, fennel, broccoli, watercress and peppers. Add four garlic cloves and some tomatoes. Clean and chop all the ingredients and cover with water. Add 2 spoons of chopped fresh herbs. Bring to the boil and cook until the vegetables are soft – don’t make them into mush. If you like smooth soup, puree it. It freezes very well so you can make additional portions to use later. Season with black pepper and some lemon juice, if liked, when you serve.

When making salads, try adding a couple of spoons of home roasted nuts and seeds to add flavor and nutrients. Some good ones to try are pumpkin seeds, pine kernels or poppy seeds.

Following a weight loss program is never easy but having recipes for a detox diet makes it a whole lot simpler.

While herbal tea, among other varieties, have been popular around the world for a long time, it seems that they have only recently gained a widespread acceptance in the US. Perhaps this is partly due to health benefits associated with green tea. Not only is there more and more anecdotal evidence about how wonderful green tea is, but the scientific and medical communities are also adding their stamps of approval to the mix.

The Chinese people have considered tea a staple in their diet for centuries, most likely dating back to prehistoric times. Other Asian cultures have also incorporated tea as a main part of their diets. Not only was it used as a common beverage, it was also used as a form of medicine early on. There are some ancient documents that mention green tea as being used to treat food poisoning, aid digestion and ease the pain of headaches.

Modern medicine is finally starting to catch up with what people from past centuries already knew. The only real difference is that modern practitioners understand the chemistry behind the benefits of green tea.

To fully understand the benefits, it is first necessary to know the difference between green tea and the other types of tea. Just about every type of tea has some health benefit, but green tea is much better. The main difference is in how tea leaves are processed.

Black tea is fermented and processed a bit more heavily, which removes a certain degree of the health benefits. Green tea leaves are in a more natural state and the tea is made by pouring hot water onto the leaves. There is a chemical compound known as EGCG (which stands for epigallocatechin gallate) which is found in higher concentrations in green tea. Time and again, green tea has been shown to improve health in several ways.

Green tea is packed with antioxidant power. As mentioned, green tea contains EGCG which is an antioxidant that is effective at inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, and may also aid in breaking them apart. ECGC also prevents blood clots and helps in reducing bad cholesterol. That’s a good start, but there’s more.

Studies have shown a relationship between green tea and weight loss, as well. The antioxidants help boost the body’s metabolism, allowing it to burn calories more efficiently. It also helps you to feel more full by limiting the secretion of leptin (an enzyme that keeps you feeling hungry).

What other beverage can make you feel full and burn calories at the same time? Not only that, but green may also lower the amount of fat that is absorbed by the body, meaning more of it will pass through your system instead of sticking around in the form of flab.

Oh, and green tea can also help prevent cavities, freshen your breath, boost immunity, give you more youthful looking skin, reduce the risk for certain cancers and alleviate rheumatism. With all it has going for it, if you are not yet drinking green tea on a regular basis, you may wish to start doing so right away.

The people who undergo gastric bypass surgery normally do so because they are sick and tired of being sick and tired, they want to live a healthier, more active lifestyle and in order to do that they need to lose significant amounts of weight. While some people may view weight loss surgery as an easy way out, the reality is that if this type of surgery is going to work you are going to have to be fully committed to making permanent lifestyle changes post gastric bypass.

This procedure will greatly reduce the size of your stomach which will make it virtually impossible for you to overeat, that in turn will lead to significant weight loss. Another thing that will lead to is a dramatic change in your lifestyle, especially your eating habits. It’s not just about how much you eat but also how often and what you eat. All of this will play a part in the success of your surgery.

Here are some specifics that can help ease you through this transition period:

1. You will be eating a lot of Jell-o and nutrition shakes after your surgery, about 30 days after your surgery to be exact. You won’t be allowed to have any type of solid food for a solid month after your surgery. Your body has changed dramatically and you will need to allow your body enough time to properly heal before you can eat any solid food.

Don’t worry, during this period it’s common to start wondering if you’ve made a huge mistake, this is a dramatic change for most people and it can be very unsettling, just hang in there and soon you’ll begin to see changes and you’ll realize that you made the right choice in having the surgery.

2. Your doctor will want you to take vitamins to supplement any nutrients you may not be receiving from your food intake, it’s very important that you don’t forget to take them. Your body must get enough fuel so that it can run properly and make it possible for you to heal.

3. After the first 30 days of a liquid only diet you will be able to start eating soft foods such as pureed vegetables. The changes you’ve undergone may affect the types of food you can tolerate. For example, some people find that they never want to, or can’t, eat a certain type of food again, like meat. With others they don’t notice any real differences in the types of foods that they can eat, they just have to eat less.

4. Once you’ve gotten past the first several months you will be able to start eating more ‘regularly’ again. That doesn’t mean you can go back to the old eating habits you had before the surgery, it just means that you will be able to eat more than liquid or soft foods. You will still want to stay away from too many carbs, fat, sugar, etc. It will be important for your body to continue to eat only whole, unprocessed food whenever possible.

These are just some of the lifestyle changes that you can expect post gastric bypass. The transition may be a little tough, most changes are at first, but in the long run the process will work if you’re willing to do your part and you follow the advice of your doctor.

Learn more about juicing and the fabulous health benefits. This is a fantastic way to extract essential vitamins and minerals from all of your favorite fruits and vegetables, creating delicious and healthful beverages in the comfort of your own home. Juicing is a fun and simple way to provide your body with extra nutrition.

Crumple up leafy greens, such as spinach, into tight balls before putting them in your juicer. Your juicer is primarily designed to deal with solid fruits and vegetables, not thin leaves. You will get better results from your juicer if you simulate this effect by squashing your leafy greens before juicing.

Don’t forget to wash your produce prior to juicing, and use organic products where possible. So many people seem to think that since it’s going to turn into juice, they don’t need to wash their fruits and veggies. Just because it’s liquid, doesn’t mean the chemicals present on the peels are going to go away. Clean your fruits and vegetables thoroughly before juicing.

When preparing for a juice diet, make sure to stock a LOT of fresh fruits and vegetables! On average, it takes 4.4 pounds of raw fruits and vegetables to make just a single quart of juice, so you’ll need lots. Also make sure to get a large variety of ingredients so that you don’t get bored with the same old juice.

The best place to find the freshest produce for juicing at great prices is at a local farmer’s market. Often, they are held once a week during the summer and fall months, and you’ll find everything sold on a farm, including meat, eggs, dairy, baked goods, canned goods, and TONS of fresh fruit and vegetables!

If you absolutely must store your juice after you make it, make sure to store it in a completely air-tight container. Letting air get at it will start a process which breaks down the nutrients in the juice, leaving a tasty but empty drink that won’t provide you with the healthy benefits you were looking for in the first place.

Remember that vegetable and fruit remnants left on a juicer after juicing have the potential to grow mold quickly. Cleaning it quickly helps stop the growth of mold. Dismantle the juicer clean the parts and rinse with water until clean. If you must use a detergent use one that is very mild.

As you can see, there are many benefits to juicing at home. With the great variety of fruits and vegetables available, you can begin making your own tasty beverages to give yourself a daily nutritional boost. You deserve a healthy lifestyle and juicing is a wonderful way to pamper yourself.
